Obituary

Normalee Kelly Lorenz, aka “Momma Owey”, age 43 passed away March 18, 2021, in Bellingham, WA. Normalee was born August 29, 1977 to Darvine Lorenz Jr. and Karlin Lorenz. She graduated from Lummi Nation High School in 1996 and attended Bellingham Technical College for her CNA degree. Normalee was a caring and loving person. She would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, without asking for anything in return. She had such a big heart and a spunky personality, always teasing and joking and always made it known she was in the room with her loud laugh and bright smile. She will always be remembered for her open arms to the children she cared for who knew her as “momma Owey”. Some of the things that brought her joy were beading, cooking, babysitting, going to the casino, and crocheting. She also worked at Simplot Cannery and on February 5, 2007 she joined the longhouse family. Normalee leaves behind her mother Karlin Lorenz; siblings; Nannette, Norman, Maurice (Catherine) and Ashana. A son so special to her, Willie Johnny; numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Darvine Lorenz Jr.; grandparents; Darvine Lorenz Sr. and Leona Warbus; Ben & Dorothy Charles and sister Adrianne Lorenz. A family prayer service will be held at the family home on Monday, March 22, at 6:00pm. A family funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 23, at 10:00am also at the family home. Burial will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
