Obituary

Monique Vernice Lillian Firmstone-Miller, was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 12, 1964, and passed from this earth, on April 2, 2022, in her home town of Bellingham, Washington.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Borders, her father’s David Firmstone and Darrell Borders, her Aunt, Sylvia Bear, and her Grandmother, Violet Bailey.  She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Kenton Miller, her children Brandon and Rachel, her daughter-in-law, Rebecca, her granddaughter, Addison Rose, her sister, Michelle Marshall, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Monique spent her youth in Bellingham, Washington, but because of an adventurer’s spirit, she moved back to Los Angeles after high school to pursue a career in graphic design.  After completing Graphic Design school, she opened her own company, MozArt Graphic Design.  It was during this time, she married her husband, Kenton, and became a mother.  Monique, like her mother, had an entrepreneurial spirit and later owned and managed a women’s only gym, Contours Express/Body Rock Fitness.  Monique did all this while she raised her second child and pursued her degree at Antelope Valley College.  In 2018, she retired to Bellingham, Washington, to be with her family.  Monique loved to cook, write, travel, golf, ski, bike, and both graphic and interior design.  Most of all, she loved her family, friends, and God.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monique’s favorite charity: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Moni, my friend of over 20 years, I have no words to express the sadness and loss I feel, knowing I will not be able to pick up the phone and talk to you ever again. I am thankful for all the wonderful memories I have, and I will cherish them always and hold them close to my heart. I promise to check in on Rachel, Brandon and Miller and will always be here for them if they ever need me for anything.
Thank you, for always being there for me in good times and bad times. You had a unique way of making things seem not so bad and understanding how I felt when I could not express it myself. I’m grateful God allowed me to have you in my life and I WILL see you again my sweet precious friend.
“A strong friendship does not need daily conversation, doesn’t always need togetherness, as long as the relationship lives in the heart true friends will never part”
    Always in my heart!
