Obituary

Micheal was born May 20th 1948 to Gloria Hunter & Harry (Spud) Cooper. He was raised by his grandparents Bob & Verlie Cooper of Nooksack. He was the oldest out of his 3 siblings.  Micheal attended Nooksack High School where he was known for his phenomenal athletic talents in football, “Hunter the Punter!”

At 18 years old Micheal was drafted into the military. He did 2 tours to Vietnam and was a prisoner of war for 14hours before escaping! He was part of the 75th Infantry, K-Company, Airborne Ranger, Sargent, and a Black Beret. Highly Decorated with: 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal and the Parachute Badge. Upon returning home from Vietnam, he struggled with PTSD, and effects of Agent Orange, yet this did not stop him for leading his life by the moto “Rangers lead the way, Charge!”

Micheal obtained a degree as a Chemical Dependency Counselor and a certified Architect! He was a very spiritual man, pipe carrier and Sundancer. His Indian name was “Ahs Klé Whu Thul” meaning truth seeker! In which he carried that name proudly, hence why he went by Klé. He was also a former AIM Movement President of the Los Angeles Chapter.

He thoroughly enjoyed, drinking his coffee, smoking cigarettes, smudging, long drives/adventures into the mountains, target practice, admiring natures beauty, gardening, spending time with his emotional support dog Shadow, and being with his family and friends. He was a man who had it all, as in carrying it all in his pockets.

On April 20th 2019 Micheal married the love of his life Pandora Traversie-Hunter in Las Vegas. After residing in Nevada for while they opted to move back to the PNW to be around family. Micheal loved his family dearly! He was a very genuine man who also made sure his loved ones/family knew how much he truly loved them, from the long-winded conversations, to phone calls, messages, and his beautiful hand written letters. His love was always so sincere! He was a man who wanted to see everyone around him happy! Lest we forget his hilarious sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pandora Traversie-Hunter; Children: Anthony Hatch, Kevin Hunter (Bern), Shannon Eagle-day Hunter, Shawn Wilson, Mary Lefthand, Eryn Hunter (Tony), Brianna Kelly, John Kelly, Dallas Bolyard, and his children at heart: Sarah Finkbonner, Ellen Kaye, Julie Chase; Sisters: Elizabeth Turner, Vicki Turner; 22 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bob & Verlie Cooper; parents Harry Cooper and Gloria Hunter; Uncle Phill Hunter; Aunt Patricia; brother Randy Turner; brother in-law Ed LaClair; and  sister-in-law Cherie Faye Smith.

We will always carry your memory and love in our hearts.
