Obituary
Bellingham, Washington
Michael Roland Daniels (“MD”), age 79, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 6, 2014. Michael was born December 5, 1934 in Bellingham, Washington to Roland and Alvina (Dietz) Daniels.
He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1953. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army, active-duty and reserves. In his early adult life he began to pursue seine in the Puget Sound area and Alaska to put himself through school. After becoming a teacher he continued for many years to commercial fish with his brothers, Pat and Larry Daniels, during the summer months in Bristol Bay.
He attended Western College (now Western Washington University), and transferred to Central Washington University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education. In 1965, after receiving his degree, he moved to Forks, Washington taking a position teaching at Valley High School. Here he taught History, Health, and Drivers Education, until retiring in the mid-1990s. After retirement he continued to live in Forks, Washington where he was an extremely respected and admired member of the community.
MD was preceded in death by parents Roland and Alvina Daniels; infant brother Dennis Daniels; sisters Josephine Frierson and Michelline Percich; sister-in-law Charlotte Daniels, and niece Lori Daniels. Survivors include; sons Pat Daniels of Forks, Washington, Mike (Michelle) Daniels of Bellingham Washington, Chris (Amie) Daniels of Bellingham, Washington; brothers Pat Daniels of Bellingham and Larry (Sandy) Daniels of Bellingham; grandchildren Dustin Daniels, Eli Daniels and Jackie Daniels all of Forks, Brittany Connolly, Connor Daniels, Austin Daniels, Alex Daniels and Emma Daniels all of Bellingham; seven great-kids and several nieces and nephews.
He was not only a favorite teacher to all his students but also a friend to them. He left a great impact on all students he encountered. As many previous students have said “He taught not only academics but also about life and life’s lessons.” He was a man who truly cared about all of his family, students and friends. He encouraged everyone to be their best and to always stand proud no matter what obstacles were encountered. He will be truly missed by so many, and there is emptiness in his entire community. The memories and the legacy of life he left behind through his family, students and friends will live on forever.

What an assest Mr. DANIELS was to the town of Forks and the Forks school system. I was a student in the class of 75 and he was a most respected teacher. May all of your wonderful memories comfort you during this sad time of loss. A great person gone but never forgotten.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Mike’s family and friends. May you find comfort in the promise at Revelation 21:4 where it says- “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”I am truly sorry for your loss.
