Obituary
Michael Joseph Ironman Theriault, born on December 5, 1954 in Concord Massachusetts, peacefully went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Monday September 17, at 10:04 pm. He leaves behind a lasting legacy and thousands of loved ones including his beloved wife, Catherine and his little brown dog, Kya, and two cherished children, Graham and Jillian. His wonderful family includes his lovely Mom Helene; his brother Tom; and sisters, Yvonne and Cecile. His many nieces and nephews are all counted and remembered in his legacy. Michaels life can be summed up in a few words, A life well lived. Though diagnosed with leukemia 13 years ago, he never allowed the disease to define him, and he passionately lived his life for the glory of his King. Though hard pressed on every side, he was not crushed, and he found Gods grace every moment of his life, right up to his deliverance into eternity. His life verse was Ephesians 5:1-2 Be imitators of God, therefore as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. His life was truly an example of one who gave his life as a fragrant offering to God, and everywhere he set foot, he left behind the aroma of Christ. The impact that his years on staff as the worship pastor at Cornwall Church will never end. His music and his love for the Word as expressed in the Arsenal CD will carry his message to the world forever. His zeal for life included things like making a difference in the life of men as he daily Texted His Guys; worshiping God, studying Scripture, laughing, playing guitar, writing music, painting, traveling, surfing, scuba diving and deep theological conversations with anyone that would engage him. Though he fought the good fight and finished the race well, cancer was not what ended his life, but the call of God home to begin his eternity in his new body; that was how he left this earth. Strong and determined to the very end, he went home peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved him and ushered him into the Presence of Jesus with songs of worship and praise. Words cannot adequately describe this valiant warrior, this mighty man of God, and the void that remains without him here is indescribably massive.

Not goodbye, but see you again soon- my brother. Michael was a light for Jesus and will be so missed. I know he is smiling now and loving the presence of Jesus. If you want to see Michael again, you can!!! Give your life to Jesus and ask him to forgive you for your sins and he will live inside of you and give you a new life. When you leave earth, you will have a home in Heaven waiting for you and Michael will be there. Time is so short. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that who so ever believes in him would mot perish but have everlasting life. Praise the Lord Michael is home. Love to you Catherine, Jillian and Graham, Tom, Cecile, Helene and Yvonne. May God’s arms hold you tight in this time.

I am so sorry for your loss, Catherine. I have such fond memories of Mike leading us in worship at Cornwall. We could see him shine the light of Jesus in what ever he did. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed, however, I know that heaven is rejoicing with his presence there. May the peace of God continue to give you comfort in the coming days.

Catherine & Family, No words can express how I feel or your grief. We know Mike is dancing with Jesus or singing one of his songs. So glad that I have his 1st CD and the songs in it are his memorial: Teach Me Your Ways, My Soul Thirst For You; You Rescue Me; and Catherine – For you . . .Flower Of The Son. There are more . . I will end with the knowledge that I will see Mike again and; I Will Rejoice! The memorial service was God-centered and celebratory, just like Mike’s life. Jillian shared that she has gone through a dark time of questioning and walking away from the faith, and I told her that while seeking to do an internship with Mike at Cornwall, he helped me to focus on the more important aspect of coming back to God and helped me to come back to the faith with his encouragement and honesty. I’ve since played worship with him at Word of Life church in Lynden, had coffee with him a number of times and have absolutely been blessed and encouraged to make my life first then my music give glory to God. Thank you Mike, for loving others as Christ.

Mike, your voice, heart and music brought so much joy here on earth, Thank you. May peace fill the hearts of your family as it did yours. Although I have not seen you for awhile you gave me many happy worship team memories I will always be greatful :O)
