Obituary

Maynard LaRue Voth, age 89, passed away on August 8, 2021 in Bellingham, Washington. He was born in Goessel, Kansas on January 5, 1932 to parents Justina (Duerksen) and Herbert Voth. In 1957, Maynard married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Reimer, and they spent their lives devoted to one another until her death in 2020.  Maynard spent 2 years in Denver, CO 1-W service at Denver General Hospital. He worked most of his life as a custodian and retired from the Ferndale School District. In his free time, Maynard loved listening to gospel music and tinkering in the garage.

Maynard and Mary Ellen adored their family and spending quality time with everyone. They always went above and beyond to keep the family connected. They spent wonderful summer vacations visiting relatives in Dallas, Oregon and Alberta, Canada, and spent many lovely Sunday afternoons visiting with relatives all around Whatcom County.

In later years, Maynard often used Facebook to stay in touch with extended family and friends. People meant everything to him. He loved learning about others, and sharing stories, wisdom, and always a few laughs. He enjoyed reminiscing about his early life, especially the cars they had owned and the tractors they used on the farm.

More than anything, Maynard loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and his faith uplifted so many. He will always be remembered as consistent, fair, honest, and devoted. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Maynard is survived by his children, Joel Voth (Sarah) of East Wenatchee, WA, Patty Hawkins (Gary) of Lynden, WA, John Voth (Carmen) of Mt. Vernon, WA, and Rhonda Blaine of Bellingham, WA; grandchildren Michael Voth, Brian Voth, Katherine Grinde, Greg Voth, Jonathan Hawkins, Emily Ricci, Danielle Di Tommaso, Nathaniel Voth, Justina Blaine, and Noah Blaine; great-grandchildren Isaac Voth, Aaron Voth, Levi Voth, Sophia Voth, Madilyn Voth, Daxton Di Tommaso, Mateo Di Tommaso, and Cooper Ricci; his sister Rowena Koehn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maynard is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Voth, his parents Herbert & Justina Voth, sister Philura (Flip) Brockmeyer, and brother Robert (Bob) Voth.

The family is so thankful for the staff at Orchard Park for their care, as well as the amazing team at Eden Hospice. Memorial Donations may be made to the Lighthouse Mission or to Wycliffe Bible Translators.
