Obituary
Maverette Marie Butler was born in Brownsdale, Minnesota on July 14, 1923 and passed away in Bellingham on June 16, 2016. She had lived in Bellingham since 1986.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Vera Barrick, a brother and a sister.
Maverette graduated from Austin High School in Austin, MN in 1941 and moved to California in 1942. She worked for the California Electric Power Co. in Riverside and San Bernadino, when it was merged with Southern California Edison Co., Los Angeles, CA. She retired in 1984 as an executive secretary with 30 years of service. Mavarette was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Chapter AP, and for many years the Frances Larrabee Garden Club.
Maverette is survived by her beloved husband, William Butler, of 54 years, daughter, Jean Jones of Bellingham, granddaughter Erika Latta, great-granddaughter, Marlowe, of NY City, one niece, one nephew, sister-in-law, and grand-nieces and nephews of Bend, OR.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale at a later date.

I knew Maverette mostly through the eyes of her adoring husband, Bill. I worked at the visitor center in Bellingham where Bill volunteered for more then 25 years. The loving and caring way he spoke about his wife impressed me. I knew they had a special marriage. It was evident that they took good care of each other. He liked to take her out to dinner and she made sure Bill had proper nutrition. I still laugh at the times Bill would sneak a little treat at the visitor center knowing she would disapprove. Bill also shared that she was afraid of spiders and other insects. He would do all he could to keep them away and had some amusing stories! During the times I met her I admired her attractive appearance (she knew how to take care of herself!) and her pleasant manner. But most of all it is Bill’s love of his wife that helps me see the good things in life. Sending love and prayers, Cheryl Collins.
