Mary McFadden

Mary McFadden, passed away November 14, 2012 in Bellingham, WA. She was born January 5, 1933 to Jacob and Katherine Augster in Sacramento, CA, where she resided until she met her husband Paul V. McFadden while working at McClellan Air Force Base. They married August 14, 1954 and moved to Seattle. Both Paul and Mary were very active in the Catholic Church and their journey with God led them first to Bellingham where they both were members of Assumption Catholic Church for approximately 10 years and then to Friday Harbor where they became Eucharistic ministers and active members of Saint Francis Parish.

Mary’s passions were her faith, her family and her crafts. She was a world traveler, enjoying new cultures and experiences. She valued spending time with her family, camping, and playing bingo and card games. She also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and adding salt and pepper shakers to her collection of nearly 800 sets.

She is survived by sisters Joan and Kay of California; her children, Kevin (Julie) McFadden, Karen (Steve) Van Etten, Kathy McFadden, Ken McFadden, Keith (Charmaine) McFadden, Kurt (Suzie) McFadden, Paul (Debbie) McFadden, Kariann (Brian Sr.) Kerntke, and Tom (Elise) McFadden;16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Paul, infant son Kerry, and brother Jack.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 19, at 10:30 AM, at Assumption Catholic Church, followed by a graveside committal service at Bayview Cemetery.

  1. Kurt & Suzie, Kent & Julie, & all of Mary’s family, We just want you to know that we were sad to read of your moms passing. Our hearts go out to all of you as you go on without your dear mom.   5. Mary was such a great person always welcoming the catholics at orchard park and leading the rosary every sunday we wil miss her in our prayer group.
