Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Sharp Weston passed into the arms of the Lord and her loved ones that preceded her on March 10,2015. Mary was born January 26, 1923 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Foster Bell and Annie Mae Sharp. She moved to the Bellingham area with her family in 1937, graduated from Bellingham High School in 1940, and worked as a waitress until she met and married Grover Thomas “Tommy” Weston in 1942.

Mary was a devoted Christian, wife and mother, and was very active with the First Christian Church of Bellingham where she led and participated in Bible studies, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, helped with fundraisers, and served as an elder.

After her children were in school, she went to work as a food server at Happy Valley School and cook at the Bellingham Yacht Club. She later sold Avon for many years, worked alongside her husband in commercial fishing and at the Pacific American Fisheries cannery.

After retiring in 1982, they traveled as snowbirds for several years in their motor home. Mary made friends everywhere she went and brightened so many lives with her love and kindness. Besides being a good seamstress and cook, Mary was a methodical record-keeper, documenting the lives of the extended family with ancestry registry sheets as well as photographs which continue to be cherished.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Danny Jack, brothers James and Rufus Brantley, and Fenton Rex Sharp, sister Betty Jo Mase, and close cousin Johnnie Johnson. She is survived by her son Russel and wife Bekki of Bellingham, daughter Bernadine and husband Peter Raiskums of Anchorage, grandson Emanuel Bradford and wife Kelly of Mt. Vernon, WA grandson Daniel Bradford and wife Julie Hestes of Las Vegas, NV and great grandsons Caleb and Tristan Bradford.

A Celebration of Life will be held March 29, 2015 at 2:00PM at First Christian Church in Bellingham. Memorial donations may go First Christian Church, 495 E. Bakerview Rd., Bellingham, WA. 98226
