Obituary

Marlene Janis Piccolo passed away peacefully in her own home, on September 9, 2024, at the age of 92.  Marlene was born on February 22, 1932, to Alfred and Betty Briscoe in Aberdeen, Washington.  Marlene graduated from Weatherwax High School with the class of 1950, in Aberdeen. Marlene met the love of her life Arthur Lester Piccolo, and they were married February 23, 1951 in Aberdeen. They then moved to Bellingham, where Art owned and operated Marine Drive Service.  Marlene worked as a telephone operator in Aberdeen and Bellingham. She was a Whatcom County Superior Court Clerk from 1964 to her retirement in 1990.

Marlene was very active raising her two children, Jim and Cindy.  She was a talented pianist and organ player.  Her hobbies also included cross stitching, embroidery, knitting, word puzzles and watching John Wayne movies.  She was a 51-year member of the Bellingham Order of Eastern Star Mapleleaf Chapter #58.

     Marlene is survived by her children Jim (Linda) of Stanwood and Cindy (Milt Miller) of Bellingham, her grandchildren Kristina Piccolo, Alyson Schenavar (Greg) and great-grandchildren Larry and Tommy.  Sister-in-law Elaine Briscoe of Mt.Vernon, Brother-in-law Nat Talpis of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Art, infant son John, and her brother Gene Briscoe.  

     The family held a private memorial for Marlene on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Moles-Greenacres Memorial Park. We would like to give a special thank you to JoAnn Conley, Robert and Valerie Clardy, and Julie Velthuizen who were a tremendous help with the care of Marlene.
