Obituary

Mark Anthony Pennylegion was born on June 12th 1960. He passed away on April 25th, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mark graduated from Sehome High School in 1978 and in that same year began commercial fishing. He involved himself in several different fisheries and was very passionate about the business.

Mark was a gifted mechanical engineer and could fix anything he worked on. He enjoyed playing poker, following sports, cooking, reading and the stock market.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Anthony Pennylegion and is survived by his stepdaughter Morgan Rayborn; mother Kathy; brothers John and Mike (Valerie,); and nephews Alec and Peter. Also very important in his life were Andi Jay Phillips, Brandi Kosa and Lisa Critchlow. Mark was a strong presence in our family and will be greatly missed.

Farewell Tribute Information

A funeral mass will be held at 12:10 on May 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A reception at the Bellingham Yacht Club at Squalicum Harbor will follow. Donations Information

  1. Mark was such a warm, honest & loving person. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

  2. well lets start with from san franciso bay to bristol bay many many great adventures!! ah the stories we share.. one that stand out ….Rainy stormy anchored up behind treasure island ( T.I.) im on deck and marks asks what the hell im doing out there,,,well i told him its just as wet inthere w/ you!!!!( think that was on marks 1st boat) you were like a bro to me and to will live forever in my memories!!!! and I mr. mark will never forget that look in your eyes and that smirk…always the thinker!!! so sorry that your time came way to soon to join mister T (my dad) and your dad at the ‘table” deal em…….. hugs to all who cared about him

  3. Such a beautiful service. It is so obvious that Mark meant the world to all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all Marks family and friends. Lisa, it was a pleasure meeting you. Brandi, your strength and love for Mark and his family amazed me. I am very proud of you. I pray that the memories you hold will help ease the pain in your heart.

  4. I remember Mark well from some of our classes at Sehome – witty, kind, sometimes a little intimidating, and incredibly smart. I loved our conversations. So sorry that he left life so early.

    Mark was a such great private guy, a loving father to Morgan and a great friend to Jeff. I will miss the breakfasts and bonfire’s we all shared in Ferndale. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. God bless you Mark.
