Obituary

Mark A. Panthen, 36, born February 23, 1979 in upstate New York, lost his life in an avalanche on January 24, 2016 in northern Washington.

Mark lived his life with deep passion. He always kept his soul filled with experiences that brought greater meaning and purpose to his life, his family and his community.
He was the solid rock for his children Caden and Oakley Rain Panthen and wife Amanda Peart.

We will be forever grateful for all Mark taught us, for all the love he poured into us, and for every adventure that we had with him by our side.

Mark loved his family, his adventure friends, skiing, biking, creating beautiful woodwork, traveling, hiking, boating, camping, playing the guitar, reading, and owning his own business.

A new journey has now begun for Mark and all who love him. May we all continue to find Mark in the mountains, along the rivers, and in the vast open world.

Thank you to all of those who have guided and supported us through this difficult time. We will never forget your compassion.

Mark is survived by his wife Amanda Peart; children Caden and Oakley Rain Panthen; mother Sue (Rene Comeaux) Walko; mother-in-law Jan (Steve) Asplund brother Craig ( Becky) Panthen and their children, Francesca, Ryder, Cole and Logan; brother-in- laws Scott (LeAnne) Peart and their daughter Arwen, Jacob Asplund; and numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Robert Panthen, father-in-law Brian Peart, brother-in-law Matthew Peart.

  1. We were very sad to hear of that Mark had passed away. We met him when he came to do some work at our home over the past two years. He was a true perfectionist at his work or should I say art.! We became quick friends during his many trips to our home. He always came with a smile and we always talked about the latest family adventure at some time while he was there. Our condolences to Amanda, Caden, Oakley Rain and the rest of the family. It seems like he lived such a full happy life in his 36yrs. You will have lasting great memories to look back on. Your smile and good nature will be truly missed Mark! RIP friend!
