Our Dearly Beloved Mother, Marian Elma Boe, passed away peacefully at home on Monday June 12th, 2023. Born on December 8, 1925 to Leonard Uhrig and Elma Sweeney, Marian lived a full and wonderful 97 years.

She is survived by her two children Randi Martin-Gayewski and Jon Martin.
Marian worked for the Bellingham Fire Department for 31 years (where she met her second husband Al Boe) in a variety of administrative positions.
Marian was truly devoted to helping others and became actively involved in the Harbor View chapter of the Lions Club, where she held the titles of Treasurer and President. I have known Marian for many years. Randi (her daughter) and I have been friend since junior high when we would walk from school to both our mothers offices directly across the street from each other to get money for after school snacks at the Cone resturaunt. downtown Marian was always happy to see you and would stop whatever she was doing to engage. She would often take Randi, her brother John and I in her white convertible either out to Birch Bay for a drive or drop us girls off downtown to go shopping. As Randi kept moving further away I marvel at how Marian would always gather up Randi and John and come and visit me where I worked. She made many visits into the mall to shop where I had the pleasure to visit and catch up on my friend. She always was excited to talk about her children and wonderful son in law. She will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Marian’s passing. She was such a delightful and caring woman with a sly and witty sense of humor.
I worked with Marian at Bellingham Fire Department and she was always the “go-to” person to learn about what was “really” going on in the organization. She had her finger on the pulse of everything that occurred with both the fire fighters and administrative staff.
I think she knew everyone in the city and if a fire department employee needed to know something she could put us in touch with the right people.
Marian, thanks for the many years of service and caring for the citizens of Bellingham and Whatcom County.
