Obituary
Maria “Mariella” Irene Warner (née Curtessi)
August 21, 1935 – December 21, 2024
Maria “Mariella” Irene Warner passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by love, light, and family.
Born on August 21, 1935, in Tripoli, Libya, to Greek parents George and Zoe Curtessi, Mariella was the oldest of seven children: Angela, Michele, Elena, Leonida, Alessandro, and Marina. She lived a life rich in love, creativity, and service. It was in Tripoli, Libya, where she met her beloved husband, Sidney S. Warner, a young geologist at the time. The couple married in 1963 and shared 55 wonderful years together before Sidney’s passing.
Mariella was a dealer of art and antiques, sharing her passion and expertise in Maumee, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; and Bellingham, Washington. She had a keen eye for beauty and history, which she shared with all who knew her. She also served as the president of the Auxiliary of the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Denver, Colorado, dedicating her time and talents to her faith and community.
Mariella’s love language was cooking, and she expressed her care through meals lovingly prepared for family, friends, and neighbors. Known for her warm hospitality and generous heart, she brought people together, creating a sense of belonging wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney S. Warner. Mariella is survived by her three children: George Bond Warner (Christine Harris, Yvonne Warner), Kate Hyde Swanstrom Warner (Scott Swanstrom, James Ludlam), and Margaret Warner (Margo Martinez). She was the proud grandmother of Audrey Elizabeth Ludlam, Sophie Anne Ludlam, and Dylan Bond Warner.
Mariella’s legacy of love, artistry, and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024.
