Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that Margaret (Greta) passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015. Margaret resided in the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden for 8 months where she bravely battled cancer. She remained positive always and endeared herself to the amazing care givers, she so loved, trusted and appreciated.

Margaret loved life, people and all animals. She especially loved her cat Olive, who has settled into her new home in Canada with her dog friend Beau.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2015, Margaret’s 80th birthday. For those interested in attending, please e-mail Jeanette at jjmridge@telus.net or telephone (604) 463-2578.

Further details will be shared when arrangements are finalized.

For those wishing to contribute to a Memorial we recommend any foundation relating to the care of animals.

We are very grateful to everyone who supported Margaret, her family, and friends through this difficult time.

RIP, my beautiful friend, I will miss you always.
My deepest sympathy to all your family in Canada, it is a big loss for you. We all can only hope it was a blessing for Margaret, nobody wanted her to suffer, she was too gentle person to go through with such
    awful illness.

I will never forget the kindness of Margaret and Maury .

  2. We were so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing, so glad we got to know her . ( thanks to the Taylor’s), She always had a smile on her face and was so easy to talk to, she will be missed by all who knew her.

  3. I met Margaret for the first time at Kevin’s and Britt’s wedding and subsequently at a family evening supper. It was my first visit to my brother, Richard and Jeanette. I was impressed by the closeness of the whole extended family, which of course included Margaret. She seemed to me a warm and happy person, interested in whatever her family was doing. She appeared to be in good health and jovial. What a shock when I heard of her brain tumour, and the necessity of ongoing treatment.Although this came as a surprise, it was no surprise how well she coped with everything. A very positive lady. What also came as no surprise was the devotion of her loved ones. I am so proud of my brother and of course, Jeanette’s steadfast care.
I believe Margaret to now be at peace and wish all her loved ones to take care in the grieving. Frances.

Dear Alma, Jeanette, Iain and FamilyI have very fond memories of Margaret … she was such a good friend — initially to my Aunt Bernie, her neighbour in Sumas, and then to me. And then through the years Margaret and I became great pals — she loved my Golden Retrievers (Carson and now Johnny) … I guess that love of animals brought us very close together along with our Scottish heritage. I fondly remember our visits in Sumas and the occasions when she would drive up to Vancouver to stay overnight with me — we shared many good times and lots of laughter. Did you know that Margaret, Josefine and I would walk my dog in the mornings and do “garbage patrol” in Sumas? — wearing plastic gloves, picking up the garbage and cleaning up the streets? It was my penance for the naughty Canucks who would dump their cars before going through the Border!!! I miss Margaret … she was such a lovely, caring and kind woman. Johnny (she called him “My Wee Man”) and I were so fortunate to know her and will look forward to seeing all of you October 10th.
