Obituary
Margaret Eleanor (Keith) Brunner was born in Ferndale, Washington on August 25, 1921. Margaret was sleeping peacefully at home on June 2, 2019 when she passed away early in the morning. She joins her mother Jeannie, her father Nathaniel, and her sister Barbara (Higley) in rest.
Margaret and husband Stan have lived their lives in Whatcom County and several months ago they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary by attending the wedding of their great-grandson Logan (Bri) McKay.
Margaret was active in the United Church of Ferndale, as well as both the local and PEO and Eastern Star chapters. She put her degree from the University of Washington to good use raising their children Janella McKay, Marcia (Jack) Highlander, Marlene (Jimmy) MacLean, Donald (Inge) Brunner, and Laurie (John) Skandalis.
We have been blessed to have her as our mother. In addition to her children and husband, Margaret is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be interred at Moles Greenacres Memorial Park.

Very sad to hear of Margaret passing..Will very much miss the annual neighbor cookie exchange at Christmas..her baked goods were always delicious and a favorite was her wonderful Scottish shortbreads! Our condolences to the whole family..

There are so many things to say about Mom that it is difficult to begin. She was a homemaker through and through. After her stroke and no longer able to prepare meals we often brought food over. She would invite us to the table to eat, make sure that everyone had all they needed and of course after dinner there was to be dessert. She often had trouble putting sugar into her own coffee near the end, but that everyone else was taken care of never left her for a moment. Rest in peace mom and know that I will eat enough, faithfully have dessert and think of you often.

What a great experience of having an Aunt and Uncle so caring and welcoming for 70 years – almost like a second set of parents. Always fun to visit, sharing their home, lots going on, cousins to hang out with. Memories to last a lifetime.

Watching Mom from the dining room window, “skiing” down the backyard slope, hilarious!
Her surprising me by knowing how to drive a stick shift when Don’s truck needed to be moved. Who knew she could do that?
Watching her lay out a pattern on fabric, squeezing it close to eliminate waste, and getting to wear the outfit the next day. Magician extraordinaire.
Going home from visits with a carload of goodies, home canned veggies and a few things she thought I could use. Thoughtful.
Learning to take a container of soup to sick or grieving friends rather than saying “call me if you need anything “.
Laugh, learn, and be of service. Really useful life lessons.
