Obituary

Marcus “Marc” John Welters, age 69, of Bellingham, passed away on December 26, 2020 at home surrounded by family after a battle with Cancer.
Marc was born at home in Melrose, Minnesota on June 7, 1951. He graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School. A proud veteran, Marc enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969 and served four years during the Vietnam War.
Marc was married to Rita Welters (Zollner) on July 5, 1974 and they spent 46 wonderful years together.
Marc worked at Coca Cola for 38 years. A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, swimming, and gardening. Above all else, Marc loved being with his family. He was also actively involved in his church, Bethany Chapel.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Albert and Bernadette Welters; and nephews, Greg Zollner and Joshua Mershon.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; son, Devin (Juliette) Brown, Steven (Allison) Welters, and Brandon (Jenny) Welters; siblings, Joni, Kay, and Janet (Ron); grandchildren, Blake, Kara, Khloe, Mason, Gage, Camryn; and countless other family members and friends.
Marc will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family of Marcus wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of PeaceHealth and Whatcom Hospice in Bellingham and Virginia Mason in Seattle.
