Obituary

Lorraine Norma Wiley was unexpectedly called home on January 28, 2022. She was born August 21, 1925 to Bryan and Iva Greenough. She was premature, weighing just 2 lbs. 3 oz.  and not expected to live. Lorraine was a fighter and proved everyone wrong by living 96 wonderful years. Starting her life in the Great Depression, and ending in the age of COVID, Lorraine saw the world around her change in so many ways.

On April 5, 1947, she married the love of her life, J.F. Wiley. She loved to tell stories of working at the shipyard and meeting him at a sailors’ dance. They had two daughters, Lora Anne and Diana, and enjoyed raising their family in Bellingham. They spent more than 50 years together and loved traveling in their motorhome, going on cruises, and taking many family vacations. Lorraine enjoyed going to movies, reading, music, shopping, Starbucks green tea frappuccinos, and she loved animals of any kind, especially cats. Above all, Lorraine loved her family and friends, and will always be remembered and treasured as a sweet, funny, caring, smart, loyal, patient, lovely woman.

Lorraine is survived by her brother Wayne Greenough, daughters Lora Anne Rawley, Diana (Terry) O’Hara, grandchildren: Christopher Rawley, Tobi (Tim) Melton, Tricia O’Hara, Dina (David) Carpenter, five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Whatcom Humane Society.

Lorraine will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, Washington.
