Obituary

Lorraine M. “Lorrie” Banning passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021, from advanced COPD. She was born August 27, 1931, in Highland, NY, to Alfred and Mary (Beck) Ose. The eldest of eight children, she pursued her teaching degree and married Richard “Dick” Banning on November 26, 1953. Lorrie retired from teaching in 1991 and was involved in many service clubs, including Lions, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Knights of Columbus.

Lorrie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard Banning Sr., and her siblings, Carolyn Duffy, Robert Ose, Alfred Ose Jr., and Joseph Ose. She is survived by her siblings George Ose of Hyde Park, NY, William Ose of Adams, NY, and Elizabeth Ose of Lima, NY; her children Richard “Rick” (Kathie) Banning Jr. of Salem, OR, Craig (Paulette) Banning of Yakima, Glenn (Kristi) Banning of Scottsdale, Penelope “Penny” Smart of Bellingham, and Roberta “Bobbi” (Shawn) Green of Bellingham; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o Sacred Heart Church: 1110 14th St. Bellingham, WA 98225.

A Rosary Service will be held on Fri. Dec 3, 2021 at 10:30, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1110 14th St. Bellingham). Reception to follow. Lorrie will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.

    I have enjoyed visiting with her.
    I have known Lorrie for many years.
