Obituary

Lenore P. Jefferson

Lenore Paula Jefferson, born July 13, 1962 passed away in the comfort of her home on October 15, 2012. She was born and raised on the Lummi Reservation. She was a beloved Wife, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Relative and Friend to many. Her smile, laughter, eyes and hands where blessed with the love of God. She always shared her praise and love of Her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born a natural helper, always willing to help any way she could, as she had a big heart. Her love for family, friends and life surmounted any height, depth or length. Her hands were always blessed and busy with work. From praying, to reading the bible or lending a helping hand. She was a lifelong harvester, gatherer and fisherwoman. She spent many hours clamming, fishing, canning and cooking. She had many talents and many favorite pastimes, none more so than spending time with the loves of her life, God, her mate Bob, children Kateri, Priscilla, Valerie, Douglas, granddaughter Danyah and her siblings and extended family. Lenore is survived by her mate Robert “Bob” Leach; brothers Jeffrey Jefferson, Michael and James Plaster, and Royrey Jefferson; sisters Valgina Kinley, Isabelle, Alice, Joi, Paula, Kelli and Miranda Jefferson, and Carmen Burke; children Kateri and Priscilla Hillaire, Valerie Tyler and Douglas Jones, Jr.; granddaughter Danyah Robertson; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. 3. My dear cousin, Lenore, I am sad to hear that you have passed but I know that you are now with your mom and dad and your son. I recall the first time we met, you had stopped by my espresso stand at Gooseberry Point and showed me ugliest and grossest clam I had ever seen, horse clams and when you said they were delicious I told you you could have them all, no way was I eating that!! We both laughed because I had only been home a short while but you told me if I had been raised here with my family I would have learned to love them. I will miss you and your wonderful spirit. Prayers and love to all of your family and may the Creator watch over all of you while you do your grieving. My heart and prayers are with you with much love!!!

  4. So much love going your way from our family. I love you all and Lenore will be greatly missed.

  5. Erin says:

You were strong when others thought it too much to hold there own. A soul like no other! Words cannot say, explain, or define the person you were. I’ll miss your laugh, your style, your love for food and family. I will cherish the Summer’s we spent camping over portage. It’s hard to say good bye. And so in parting words…Thank you, for being you. I love you and miss you like crazy. P.S. Save me a spot up there. Camping won’t be the same with out you.
