Obituary

Larry E. Johnson, age 79, of Ferndale, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was a lifelong Whatcom County resident.

Larry graduated from Bellingham High School in 1956. He joined the United States Airforce and later became a member of the American Legion. Larry married the love of his life Renee McLeod in 1958. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and the Teamsters Union. Larry retired from the Whatcom County Road Department. He enjoyed watching the Seahawks and the Mariners. His greatest joy was his family.

Survivors include his wife Renee; sons Steve (Jody) and Jay (Deborah); grandchildren Holly (Sean) Linville and Ben (Tanya) Johnson; great grandchildren Hailey and Malia Linville and Arason and Harlan Johnson; sisters Marilyn Gran and Sandy (Mick) Reynolds, and numerous nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Tess Johnson, and in-laws, George and Frieda McLeod.

An Open House will be held on Monday, August 21, from 3pm to 6pm at Portal Creek Park Clubhouse, 6350 Portal Way, Ferndale.

    Dad was truly a dedicated family man . Providing for us was something he took great pride in . A few days before he passed he took my hand and said ” I love you , thanks for being my son “.His family was absolutely everything to him . Dad , we’ll miss you very much .

  5. Dear Renee,I was so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. Can only imagine how hard it is for you and your family….I have such memories of being at your house when you two were dating. Even then it was so clear that he was the love of your life. Happily, that was the case and you two built a lovely family and your strong love sustained for a lifetime..an amazing blessing for sure, but so very hard to lose your best, lifetime friend.

    I hope you find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared and the in the arms of your dear and close family.
