Obituary

Mrs. Lawana Chapman was born in Bellingham and passed away at her home in Ferndale on January 14, 2019. Those who knew Lawana knew of her love for writing, painting and reading. Always, Lawana was there to help others; to the end she did volunteer work for her Community Center, served as Treasurer for her condo association and for her beloved Church. She will always be remembered as a passionate, loving and caring Mother, Grandmother and Friend.

Lawana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Chapman, in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa; sons, John and Steve; her sisters, Julie and Loretta; and her 5 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Lawana’s Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26th at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Ferndale, 2034 Washington Street, Ferndale. Reception to follow. All are invited.

A small Graveside Service will also be held at 10 Mile Cemetery in Lynden at 11:00 AM on Saturday the 26th. Family and close friends only please.

In her final weeks, the needs of Lawana’s church community and the church’s failing roof weighed on Lawana’s mind. Memorials may be made in Lawana’s name to United Church of Ferndale (P.O.
