Obituary

Laura Leigh Godsey
December 2, 1962 – October 15, 2024

Laura Leigh Godsey, 61, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at her home in Bellingham, WA, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lansing, MI, to Thomas and Sharon Harrington, Laura was known for her kindness, humor, and passion for music and nature.

A talented musician, Laura attended Interlochen Arts Academy and studied music at the University of Michigan. She met her husband, Larry Godsey, with whom she had two children, Aziz and Luna. While they later separated, Laura and Larry remained close, sharing a love for music.

Laura cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, finding new joy with the births of her three granddaughters. Her love for the outdoors was reflected in her daily walks, where she often carried her flute to play in nature. Laura was active in her community, attended church, and supported conservation causes as a longtime vegetarian and environmental advocate.

Laura is survived by her parents Thomas and Sharon, sister Janet, children Aziz and Luna, daughter-in-law Ayako, and grandchildren Miriel, Eleanor, and Olivia. Her funeral was held at Green Acres in Ferndale, WA, where family and friends gathered to honor her memory.
