Obituary
Kevin Eric Sluys died on January 21, 2018 at his home. He was a Bellingham native and resident throughout his entire life, and a successful local business owner. Yet, first and foremost he was a brother, husband, and dad. He would constantly show his family love and care through acts of service. In his home he was the dependable handyman, family zoo keeper, and gourmet BBQ chef. As a dad, he strove to be involved in his kids’ lives. He taught his kids how to drive cars, boats, and jetskis. In the summer he would build campfires for them, take them inner tubing, and swim with them in the lake. When enjoying time to himself he would take Cody, the family dog, on walks in the neighborhood. He loved people watching, paddle boarding, biking, and tackling projects around the house and at work.
His brother Ken, who worked with him every day, described Kevin as creative, resourceful, hardworking, and gutsy. Kevin had a unique sense of humor that he passed on to his middle daughter, Erica. She expressed that what she’ll remember the most about her dad is his humor which was just like hers. Kevin was intuitive, logical, independent, and a natural born leader.
Kevin is predeceased by his mother Shirley and his brother Jeff.
He is survived by his wife Irene, his three kids Venise, Erica, and Wesley, his dad Wes, and his brothers Richard, Ken, and Greg and their families.
Kevin’s memorial will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2018, 11:00 am at Moles Funeral Tributes in Bellingham. There will be a reception following. Please make a donation to CTK Blessing in lieu of flowers.

Kevin was a wonderful son-in-law for 10 years. We shared many saunas together in their home on King Mountain talking everything from country music and sports to politics and his business. Although we lost touch over the years, we did meet in the grocery store about a year ago. He proudly talked about his family, grinning from ear to ear. Mr. Sluys was a hard working man with a great sense of humor. My thoughts are with the folks he left behind.

Oh Irene! I cannot believe this! I am so so sorry and am without words to describe how my heart hurts for you and the kids. Kevin was something else. Such a gentle man…humble and full of integrity. Anyone who knew him, knew how much he loved his family. It is strange, but I saw the car when I stopped in the Talbot bldg this last week (spotted the “Float” plate) and hoped that I would run into you or Kevin or both of you! You have been on my mind ever since. Love you sister. Please know you are in my prayers.
