I first met Ken right after I started working at Highgate Senior Living back in January, so I only knew him for a brief time. But in that brief time, I learned so much from him. He ALWAYS made me and MANY others laugh, smile and remember not to take life too seriously because it’s too short. His kindness and sense of humor will always be remembered by all of us staff here at Highgate Senior Living and even some of the residents who recognize that he’s no longer with us. There was never a dull moment when I was around Ken. I feel very honored to have helped take care of him in his final moments in life, he will not be forgotten! My heart goes out to you Kyle, Kelly, Kevin and Kathy. I hope you’re all able to find peace and comfort in this time of hardship.
All of us hope you guys still come in and sat hi to us!

  2. I had the privilege of taking care of Ken when he lived at Highgate senior living. His beaming ray of happiness impacted myself and many others. He never ceased to make me smile or laugh. Somehow he knew when I was stressed or just wasn’t having a good day and knew exactly what it would take me turn my day around. In his last days, he still spread happiness to those around him. He will be missed by many. Things won’t be the same without Ken’s spunky and outgoing spirit. ♥️

  3. Dear Kelly and family,Your dad was a very special guy and an awesome father. We first met when he was taking special attention in finding morning care for his baby girl’s kindergarten days. We could not have had a better neighbor. Bless your heart for all the loving care you provided him in his last years.

Kelly, Kevin, Kyle and Kathy, I was very sorry to learn of Ken’s passing. He and I had become acquainted 70 years ago while we were in the 2 nd grade at Birchwood Grade School and had remained in contact throughout the years since.
Ken and I progressed through the Bellingham school system, graduating from high school in 1955. During our senior in high school we joined the Navy Reserve together. A year and a half later we enlisted in the Marine Corps (after watching the film “Sands of Iwo Jima” starring John Wayne) under the “Buddy Program which kept us together throughout our tour of duty. While in The Corps, Ken served as my best man when my wife and I were married. Ken and I advanced in rank quite rapidly on parallel paths with Ken becoming the company supply sergeant prior to release from active duty.
During our earlier years, Ken and I had numerous hunting excursions together in the fields for pheasants, in the ponds and marshes for ducks, and in the mountains for elk. Later in our senior years we maintained contact through my many trips to visit my parents, brother and Ken (who worked together).on weekends. In the last decade or so our contact was primarily on the internet, phone calls and on occasional visits.

Ken, my good friend, until we can serve together again, you have a good tour of duty guarding the Pearly Gates. Remember once a Marine, always a Marine.

    SEMPER FI, Marine,
    Dave Bailey
