Obituary
Karen Marie (Paulsen) Sprague, passed away November 28, 2023 in her home. She was born August 29, 1943 in Blaine, Washington to Kaare Paulsen and Marie (Kley) Bring.
Karen grew up in Birch Bay and graduated from Blaine High School. She married Robert Paul Sprague Sr, on August 3, 1963 in Blaine Washington. Robert and Karen spent their first few years of marriage on the east coast, their son Robert was born in Princeton Maine. They returned to Whatcom county and their daughter Laurie, was born in Bellingham.
Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always ready to celebrate birthdays and holidays. Like her mother she spent hours decorating for holidays, especially for Christmas. She had many stories of growing up on her grandparents’ farm in Birch Bay and spending time with her aunts, uncles and many cousins. Karen spent many hours visiting with friends while she sold Avon. She ‘adopted’ many of Rob and Laurie’s friends, they all referred to her as mom. Karen enjoyed doing needlework while watching Mariners games. She touched the lives of many people.
Karen is survived by her husband Robert, her son Robert Sprague Jr (Crystal), daughter, Laurie Pederson; grandson, Rory Sprague (Rebecca), granddaughters, Christina Sprague, Mya Pederson and Zoe Pederson, great grandchildren Hailey and Damian, sister Diana Christianson
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles, Paulsen, David Bring and Darwin Bring, sister Laurie Anne Paulsen.
A celebration will be held at Greenacres on Tuesday, December 19th at noon.

Bob, Laurie & ALL of Karen’s family & loved ones.
I just want to let you know how sorry I am to read about Karen’s passing. I knew (& LOVED) Karen for many years when she (& also Bob & Laurie) would come to HONG KONG GARDEN & I would get to wait on you!! I felt like I really got to know you well during those years. Karen was ALWAYS SO SWEET, KIND & FRIENDLY!! Sending love to ALL of you.
