Born in Battle Mountain, Nevada

June Eileen Posthumus, 85, passed away peacefully at her home May 9, 2014. She fought a courageous and fearless battle with multiple sclerosis for most of her life. June was born April 16, 1929 to Vernal and Birdie Hissong in the Black Hills, Nevada. Her family moved to Whatcom County when she was a child. She married John Posthumus in 1946. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary next month. June was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loves to fish and watch the hummingbirds and wildlife in the backyard of her home. She will be missed and remembered with love by all who knew her. June is survived by her husband John Posthumus; daughters Cheryl Ann Reitz and Karrie Yeoman, her sister Merlyn Allen of Blythe California, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank “all the girls” (as June called them), helpers, and others for the love, care and support in June’s last days and years. .

Farewell Tribute Information

Services will be held May 21, 2014 at Moles Bellingham, 2465 Lakeway Dr. near Bayview Cemetery; Viewing 11:00AM to 1:30PM, graveside services at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial reception in the Whatcom Room at Moles Bellingham. All arrangements through Moles Bellingham at Bayview Cemetery. Donations Information

May you find comfort and hope in the promise at Revelation 21:4 where it says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I am truly sorry for your loss.

    June was my Grandma and she was a wonderful woman! She will be missed. I remember awesome times just talking with her, rubbing her feet, camping, or just hanging out. Love you Grandma:) know that you are dancing with Jesus now :)
