Obituary

Judy Dee Potter, age 74, of Bellingham, passed away on March 25, 2018 in Hawaii. She was born on September 8, 1943 to Ivan and Sybil (Orr) Denson and graduated from Bellingham High School. In 1971, she married David Hugh Potter in Bellingham. She had many jobs over her lifetime, some of which included selling Avon, working at Moore’s Blueberry Farm, operating switchboard for Puget Power, and being involved in Whatcom County Elections, but the most important job to her was being a mother and loving wife.

She was the President of the Bellingham Emblem Club #489 from 2015-2017 and was also involved with the Red Hat Society. Judy was a woman of many talents and hobbies; including making art and beading jewelry, coloring books, traveling, sewing, bowling, golfing, shopping, spending time with family, making flower arrangements and gift baskets, collecting unicorns, reading, camping, flower gardening, and listening to Elvis and country music. One of her favorite memories was finally getting to visit Elvis’s home, Graceland. She and her husband, David, would have long talks over morning coffee on the terrace, a memory that he will always cherish. Her family will miss vacationing in Hawaii and watching Judy spend time with her beloved grandkids and great-grandkids. Judy was such a loving, artistic, energetic, huggable person, and left an impression on all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband, David Potter; daughter, Camie (Michael) Aldridge; sons, Ivan and Shane (Rindy) Potter; brother, Ben (Nina) Denson; sister, Donna (Myron) Hawkins; granddaughters, Rebecca (Aldridge) Reese and Michelle Aldridge; and grandsons, Brian Aldridge and Justin (Amanda) Ghramm. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, and grandson Michael C. Aldridge Jr.

Memorials in Judy’s name may be made to the Elks Lodge (Tall Ladies), 710 Samish Way, Bellingham, WA 98229.

What does one say about the loss of a lifetime friend, to make sense off it? My heart is heavy and I am saddened and it hurts for all of those who love her. Your pain must be indescribable. Judy was so much fun to be around and she was the kind of friend that you could go months without seeing, and when you did,it was like it was yesterday. I do feel blessed that I was able to visit with her just the day before they left for Hawaii. We caught up, exchanged stories and I will be forever blessed that I had the opportunity to hug her tight and that our final words together were I love you and I wished her Aloha! Again my most heartfelt condolences to all of you who love her and will miss her forever, as I will .
