Obituary

Joyce K. Nichols of Bellingham, WA peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 surrounded by family. She was 76, born to Dortha Ebert and Raymond Kalar on September 10, 1937 in Santa Cruz, California.
She graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1955 and shortly after met her husband to whom she married a year later.
They moved to Bellingham in 1970 with their 2 boys where she started her year career as a Receptionist in the chiropractic offices of both Dr. Ferry and Dr. Feurmeister until which she retired. She was an avid bowler on many leagues for many years with great friends. This is where she took the claim of the 10PIN.
After her retirement she and her husband traveled in their fifth wheel to visit friends and family along the West Coast. This gave her a chance to crochet and play cards with friends all while enjoying the outdoors. While at home she enjoyed bowling, baking, gardening and spending Friday nights at Deming Speedway where she could watch the sport she loved the most! You always knew that when you stopped by to see her at home there was a full jar on M&Ms on the piano and fresh baked goodies, especially chocolate chip cookies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband David of 49 years. Survivors include sons Mike (Lori), Glenn (Tracy). 3 Granddaughters Dana (Sean) DeVries, Kara, Kim. Grandson Josh (Cassie). 3 great granddaughters Savannah, Jaydn, and Brooke, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was well known by many and will be greatly missed!

Dear Nichols family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear loved one. It seems no greater sadness is felt than when someone so dear to us is loss. May you find comfort in your memories and draw strength from a promise God has provided which gives the hope of someday being reunited with your beloved Joyce (John 5:28,29). This promised future is one that will be filled with great joy because it will include perfect health and everlasting life on a paradise earth where “the former things have passed away” (Rev. 21:4, Psalms 37:29). May you during this most difficult time find some comfort in knowing that God does care and He does hear our cries. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
