  1. Please accept my condolences on Joseph’s passing. He sounded like a man who truly loved life and lived his to the fullest. John 5:28,29 gives us the hope that he will be able to do that again because it states that ” the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” It will be a much better life as Revelation 21:4 promises when it says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning , nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I hope this give you some comfort and hope for the future. I am truly sorry for your loss.

  2. I never had the privilege of meeting Joe Henley.I live on the other side of the world. I found out about him only through an Internet search while researching our family tree, but his story reminds me very much of my own father, who is now 94, but sadly now in a care home with advanced dementia. He was a RAF pilot in WWII. It’s oneof the few things he remembers, but there’s now no possibility of him skydiving. We truly are a global family, with members in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Kenya, England,Wales, Scotland, and maybe a few other places too. But in reading all the life stories I am struck by a common sense of duty and purpose that is shared by everyone. Whatever we do in our lives, whether science, military service, music, theatre, sport, tailoring, journalism or printing, we seem to give 100 percent commitment. Joe was clearly no exception!
My sympathy to all of Joe’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchikdren for their loss. Any are welcome to contact me – I have a large amount of Henley family history to share, and can also put you in touch with other family members around the world.

I was so sorry to read about your dad today in the Herald. He was one of my dad’s best friends at the Chateau. They played pool together, baseball, ran the Horse Races, called BINGO, and just all around had a good time. Your dad lived right around the corner from dad. My father passed away the last of November and I was wondering how I could let Joe know, but I guess he took care of that himself.. Now dad and Joe are playing pool in Heaven. Maybe he’ll teach my dad how to golf!! I’m sure they have already connected…Dad missed Joe when he moved away and they did talk once an awhile on the phone. I will be out of town on Sunday or I would be at the service. Thinking of you all. My prayers and Sympathies are with you, and your whole family at this sad time. JoAn Siden (John Sternhagen’s daughter.)

  4. I was saddened to hear about Joe’s death but celebrate his long, active and rich life. He and my dad, Alex Murray, were great friends at the Parkway Chateau and I enjoyed my time with Joe. What a gentle, kind, funny and sweet man. I am not surprised that he went skydiving on his 95th birthday! My deepest sympathy to Joe’s family and all who loved him.
