Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Henry Bowers was born on July 8, 1929 in Pennsylvania to David and Catherine Bowers, and passed away on January 16, 2018 in the care of Whatcom Hospice House. Joe graduated from Coupeville High School and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the electrical trade where he worked in a variety of settings, from residential to industrial. Joe belonged to the I.B.E.W., Masons, Mt. Baker Motorcycle Club, and the V.A.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Catherine Dether; and sisters Hanna Bainbridge and Pearl Seiger. Joe is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Jean; children Rick (Anne), son-in-law Ronald Dether, Christy Westenhaver (Kim), Kay, Gary (Mary), “4th Daughter” Joan Andrews; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Albert and sister Mary Lou.
Joe was loyal, helpful, and reliable; he was known for getting things done. He will be greatly missed by all. A special thanks to daughter-in-law Mary for greatly helping Joe in his last years.
