Obituary

Tony Sr. passed away in Bellingham on March 16, 2016. He was born in Mercedes, Texas on July 9, 1934, to Gaspar Loya Sr., and Teresa Pena Loya. He married Maria Flores on April 11, 1952, They were married for almost 64 years and had 6 children. Tony Sr. retired from Intalco Aluminum Works in Ferndale in April 1997 after 30 years of employment. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gaspar Loya Jr, daughter Lydia who passed away as an infant in 1955, daughter Ofelia Ayala who passed away on March 20, 2013, and grandson Roger Komac. Tony is survived by his wife, Maria, children; Maria (Janie) Wilson, Tony Jr., Mimi Gere, and Diana (Milt) Unick of Ferndale, his grandchildren; Chris Komac, Mari(Dan) Ayala, Miranda Ayala, Tim Ayala, Milagro Ayala, Brianne (CJ) Handforth, Matt (Nicole) Loya, Jacob (Carlee) Loya, Sara (Stephen) Martin, Clayton Cummings, Alanna Cummings, great-grandchildren; Taylor Ayala, Xindi LaPlante, Shelbie Komac, Mya Komac, Noah Komac, Shane Komac, Natalie Loya, Lily Handforth, Tucker Handforth, Ryley Loya, Zack Loya, Peyton Loya, Cava Loya, Hyde Loya, Bailey Martin and Aidan Munro-Cummings. Tony is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Our father, grandfather and great grandfather impacted many of you who have expressed your thoughtful words of comfort and kindness during this most difficult time. We ask that you join us for a celebration of Tony, Sr’s life at Moles Farewell Tributes – Greenacres, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale on Tuesday March 22, 2016 at 1:30pm. We will forever be grateful for the dignity and respect and care that was given to him in his last weeks of life by Stafholt Nursing Home caregivers and staff.
