Obituary

Jonathan Don Tolliver, age 41, passed away suddenly on April 3, 2019 in California.

Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, Jon grew up in Alger, Washington and graduated from Burlington High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a proud graduate of the Portland Art Institute. Most recently he had worked for UPS in Angels Camp, California.

Jon was an artist, a loving stepfather and husband, and a good man with a great sense of humor. In his adult life, he found a home in California and loved being part of the Angels Camp community. Some of his proudest moments were receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the Portland Art Institute and his art showing in Portland after his graduation, receiving recognition for his wine label design, and his work as a crime scene forensic animator. He married Karen Kirkman two years ago and was honored to be a stepfather to her three children.

Ever since moving to Angels Camp, Jon had been trying to convince his family to come down and visit for the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. Family and friends will gather at the Jubilee this May to celebrate his life. Check back here for details closer to the date.

Jon leaves behind him his wife Karen (Kirkman) Tolliver; three stepchildren; parents Don & Karen Tolliver; stepsister Riann (John), brother Alex, and sister Kayde (Jenn); along with many loving family and friends.

  2. We enjoyed the times visiting with Jon when he was at home with Karen and Don. He was very talented with his designs and a pleasure to converse with, although we weren’t able to see him often. Our sincerest condolences for all of your family during this unexpected loss. Hugs and prayers for all of you . Bob and Nancy

The world is a little less bright without you, but your memory will remain and bring smiles to our faces forever. Until we meet again,
