Obituary

John W. Johnson, age 82, passed away in Bellingham, WA on May 4, 2018. John was a lifelong resident of Bellingham. He graduated B.H.S in 1955, after playing football and competing in the shot put. In 1956 he joined the Marine Corps. After his discharge in 1959, he married Darlene Lunde. The couple divorced in 1971. John worked five years as a Bellingham police officer and then spent 25 years at Georgia Pacific.

John had an inventive mind, constantly thinking up ideas to improve the world. He loved pheasant hunting, Husky football, and old movies. A lifelong Democrat, John was keenly interested in politics. He was a friend of Bill W. and died with 35 years of sobriety.

John was predeceased by his father Frank Sr., mother Lois, and siblings William (“Billy”), Katherine, Mary Ellen, and Frank Jr. He is survived by his daughter Barbara, son Michael (wife Donna), grandsons Ryan and Wesley, nieces Suzy and Leslie, and great-grandson Asher. We miss you Dad.

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 15, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at the Moles Greenacres Chapel – 5700 Northwest Dr. Ferndale.

  1. So sorry for the loss of John ! I worked with John at Bellingham Police Dept . He was such a nice guy , and handled himself well . I was sad to see him leave the Police Dept. , I alwass looked foreward to working with him . RIP , MY FRIEND !
