Obituary

John Wesley Elvig, age 74, passed away on June 22, 2021 in Oak Harbor, Washington.

John was born on September 29, 1946 in Bellingham, Washington to parents Kenneth Cochran Elvig and Margaret Masterson Elvig.

He grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1964. John served in the United States Navy when he was a young adult. He had two daughters: Angela Gresham who was born in 1967 and Anissa Bower who was born in 1974.

John enjoyed computers and was a self-taught computer technician. He even taught computer classes to others who needed the help.

John is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Margaret Elvig, his brother Paul Masterson Elvig, and nephew Jason Elvig. He is survived by his daughters Angela (Tracy) Gresham and Anissa Bower, brothers Jim (Nancy) Elvig and Dan Elvig, his sister-in-law LaDonna Elvig, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

John will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

    I had the pleasure of meeting John while working and several years later became his neighbor and friend.
    I loved chatting with John and enjoying a laugh and will cherish the times we spent playing pick up sticks on his dining room table.
    Thank you for sharing kindness with my family John. You are loved and missed.
