Obituary

On May 8, 2021, with the throttle wide open, headed straight for heaven, John Scott Burner, “Scott,” rode off into the last sunset. He was born on December 10, 1957 in Spokane, WA to John and Denise Burner. Scott was a good man, with a big heart, who showed up for the people he loved. A goofball with a quite nature, he lit up a room with his smile and sense of humor. Scott graduated from Sehome High in Bellingham, WA. He was the proud owner and operator of Evergreen Carpet and Upholstery, giving each of his loyal clients his personal touch.  With over 25 years sobriety Scott lived life as fully as he could, and he felt the most alive when chasing the wind on a motorcycle. Scott rode with the Christian Motorcyclist Association, serving for a while as the President of the CMA Mt Vernon chapter, The Morning Star Riders #39. Scott also rode with the Alky Angels International Motorcycle Club, a clean and sober club. He was known to play Elf at the Alky Angels Christmas events. When he wasn’t riding, Scott could be found trying to watch multiple NFL football games at once, of course paying special attention to the Seahawks. Go Hawks! Scott also had a deep fondness for long road trips and going out to eat. Sometimes combining the two and road tripping across the state just to try out a restaurant!

Scott is preceded in death by his mother Denise Joanne Burner and sister Susan Burner. He is survived by; spouse Kristi Lyn Tankersley, son Justin Everett Burner, daughter Shelby Allen, father John “Jack” Burner, cousin Stephanie Jones, and aunt Joan Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Scott on Friday, June 18th, 2:00pm at Anacortes Christian Church.
