Obituary
Following an accidental death, John is to be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 15th at 10am, at Greenacres Memorial Park (5700 NW Dr. Ferndale). He will be buried next to his spouse Mary (2015), daughter Sharon Gehring (2010), and granddaughter Shannon Brooks (2012).
You will forever be missed by surviving family members; sons John C. Brooks and Gerald F. Brooks, daughter Shirley (Rick) Todhunter; sister-in-law Patricia Brooks, grandchildren Jon Workman, Leandra Hanson, Janell Kortlover, Aaron Kortlover, Brandon Todhunter, Jeff Brooks, and Fawn Brooks, and also by his nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
John provided and supported his family throughout the years with/in his carpentry skills, which included most of the construction on the overpasses from Bellingham to the northern border, remodeling the Leopold Motel, Western Washington University, and Coupeville School, to mention just a few. Prior to these jobs, he traveled to Alaska and worked on the Ross Dam project. John grew up in Seattle area and had many stories of living in the Rainier Valley area, when it was still considered rural. John never lost any details or got tired of telling these adventurous stories.
We LOVE and are THANKFUL for the blessings, securities, and support you provided for us children through the many years we were HONORED & BLESSED to have shared with you.
May your soul be forever peaceful and your legacy live on in the hearts of all the friends and family for generations to come!!!
