Obituary

John DeForest passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of July 19, 2022, in Everett.

John was born in Bellingham and graduated from Ferndale H.S. in 1954. Shortly after he graduated, he served in the army and was stationed in Alaska. He was proud of his time in the service and would often reminisce about his experiences.
John had a variety of occupations, including working in the Bellingham Paper Mill, selling insurance, where he won several sales awards, and his last job in the Golf Range Netting business, where he spent 20 years.
Always the salesman, he was a talker. His friends best knew him for his line of B.S. John seemed to relish these comments.
He enjoyed collecting antiques and going to auctions. He was especially interested in buggies and made several trips to Amish country to acquire buggies and miscellaneous farm items to bring back home. A bonus was getting to know some of the Amish families. Later in life, he took pride in his thriving vegetable garden.
John was preceded in death by his parents George DeForest and Bertha Wasell, his son Kurt and sister Mary Lee Olson. He is survived by his brother Jim DeForest (Linda) and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service at Enterprise Cemetery.
