Obituary

JoAnn ‘JoJo’ Louise Miller was born to Kenny Miller and Melanie Casimir-Tobey on August 14, 1975, in Reno, Nevada, and was the oldest of nine children.

JoJo enjoyed word find and coloring. JoJo served as honorary ‘JOM Assistant Parent Coordinator’ and was part of the team. She enjoyed spending time with her sister Alexandria, her “cousins” as she called all whom she met, except for the elder ones and they were all her “Grandmas” and “Grandpas.” JoJo’s nieces and nephews were her babies, whom she loved so very much. JoJo’s love was unconditional, she prayed for everyone and held a high spiritual belief of healing.

JoJo left an impression on everyone she met and those closest to her all share how much love she had for all. Her brother Kenny shared, one time I asked JoJo, “Who was that?” after she hugged an East Indian man. She replied, “That was my grandpa.” Kenny laughed saying you are my sister and we have the same grandparents, that isn’t my Grandpa, all while smiling and laughing thinking of the many hugs she shared with all her “cousins” and “grandparents.” JoAnn was happy and lived a life full of love for all who she encountered.

JoJo is survived by her father Kenny ‘Kong’ Miller; brothers Kenny (Alexandria) Miller, Kendrick Miller, Joseph Miller and Evan Smith; sisters Regina Miller, Holly Tobey and Nikki Rivers; aunts Carlene Casimir (Fred) Jefferson, Charlene Casimir and Donnell Davis; grandma Marie Ballew, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her mother Melanie Casimir-Tobey; brother Arlan L. Toby; grandparents  Velda ‘My-Ah’ Phoenix, Alvin Casimir, Jeannette Grant and Harold Miller; and uncle Alvin Casimir Jr.

There will be a prayer service held on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 6pm at Wexliem and a funeral service held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10am with burial to follow at the Lummi Nation Cemetery.
