Obituary

Jeanette Potter, age 89, passed away in Bellingham, WA on September 8, 2018. She was born on August 10, 1929 in Duluth, MN to Peter and Florence Sande. She grew up in Two Harbors, MN.

As a girl Jeanette was an excellent marksman with a rifle. She also taught herself to play piano. Jeanette moved west to go to college at Skagit Junior College in Mt. Vernon, WA where she was known for her beautiful singing voice. In college she worked as the assistant editor for the college paper, The Cascadian. It was in Mt. Vernon where she met, and in 1949, married George Potter. Shortly after getting married, George joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. Jeanette settled in The Bay Area, CA and worked at Webster Street Laboratories as an office manager and x-ray technician. After retiring, she returned to her beloved Northwest. In Bellingham she volunteered as an ombudsman active in both St. Vincent DePaul and Assumption Church. Jeanette loved her home. She enjoyed taking rides and going out to eat.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her brother Pete Sande. She is survived by her sister Peggy Swanson of Two Harbors, MN, children; Kathleen Chandler of Jamaica, Jean Day of Livermore, CA, Iris Potter of New Mexico, and Gregg Potter of Fremont, CA; 7 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids, as well as nieces & nephews, & cousins.

Jeanette will be laid to rest on Monday September 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham.

  1. I loved Jeanette I called her grandma. I will never forget our car rides together and making her laugh. She will be missed.
