Obituary

Jason A Swanson was born to Lisa Marie (Li) Swan and Aaron Gadberry on February 15, 1994 in Anacortes, Washington. Jason died suddenly on June 1, 2018 in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Jason grew up in Sedro-Woolley, raised by Li Swan and Will Swanson. Jason attended Sedro Woolley High School and State Street High School.

Jason had a big heart and is remembered for going out of his way to help others, even when he had unmet needs of his own. Jason had many “homes” where he would pitch in and help out. He was also fiercely loyal, jumping to the defense of his friends, family, and girlfriend whenever it was needed. He showed up for his people, even though he didn’t drive. Jason often worked as a handyman, sometimes worked construction, and most recently worked as a snake wrangler. Jason had a brilliant mind, and was often found researching topics of interest. He enjoyed sharing what he had learned with those around him.

Jason is preceded in death by his uncle Jason Aaron Stansbury, for whom he is named, and by a grandfather, Warren Hill.

Jason is survived by his younger brother, Xavier M Swanson, his parents, Li Swan, Will Swanson, and Aaron Gadberry, by his grandparents Ruth and Karen Rook, Robert Stansbury, Jim and Ilona Swanson, Kathy Hill, and Darlene Gadberry, by his great grandmother Wilma Stansbury, and by the love of his life, Jasmin Pickin.

There are two viewing times available for those wishing to say goodbye to Jason; Sunday June 10 from 1pm to 5pm, and Monday June 11 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. These are at Moles Funeral Home at 2465 Lakeway Dr in Bellingham WA.

In addition to the viewings, there will be a memorial service for Jason in Sedro Woolley at the home of his Nanas on Sunday June 24 at 1pm.

  1. This world has gained another angel! So young, so full of life. My heart breaks for his parents and extended family and friends. I want to send my love to a few that he loved deeply. Karen, Ruth and Jasmine! I’m so very sorry for the heartache you’re feeling! I love you

  2. Li, Xavier, and Will, my heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. My oldest daughter is the same age as Jason and i can’t even begin to pretend to know what you all must be feeling during all this. I can’t offer much to help you right now except for what i have within and that is a willing, listening ear. If you ever need to cry or scream or just want someone to listen, I’m always here for you, and Xavier, if you ever need a place to just rest, our home is always open to you. Li, please don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything. We are all so sorry for your loss in Jason’s passing, and our condolences to Jasmine as well and Godspeed in both of the girls’ recoveries.

Jason was one of the most important people in my life he was my brother, my best friend, and my adopted son. He could bring me up when I was at my darkest times. I honestly dont think Id be as internally healed as I am without his friendship & love which is what is making me strong at this time of great loss. I made him a promise that I would watch over his people & help out the way he did which as some know its what Ive been doing for yrs its like I once told him follow your heart it will never lead you the wrong way.

Leave A Condolence
