In these days after Jimmerz’ passing, I have been filled with sweet memories of him. I wish now that I’d taken some videos of him singing and playing with us, but kinda hard to do with an ‘ukulele in two hands, yeah? He was such a sweet, kind, man, always looking out for others, cooking da best teriyaki chicken in the world, and filling the air with his singing and playing. I treasure the times that I spent in his presence. I have a big puka in my heart because he’s not here anymore, but good memories will help to ease that through the years.

I only went to Kanikapila at Fred’s a few times and met Jimmerz there. He was so so good, singing all the tunes and playing on his ukulele. I loved watching him play and tried to learn from him. I asked him once how he was doing some fancy strum pattern, he said he didn’t know, he just plays! So sorry I didn’t go more often. I am sure he is entertaining everyone where ever he is now, and blowing them away with his playing and singing skills!

  3. Jimmerz, thank you for your encouragememt and help with our Kanikapila Ukulele Club. I learned so much from you. Not only how to play ukulele better, but how to be a decent and loving person. I miss you, your laugh, your voice, your talented playing… Aloha oe my friend. Until we meet again…a hui hou

To the family (ohana) of my dear friend, Jimmerz. Your father, husband, son, brother, was the heart of the kanikapila group and Hoaloha (Friends). He was the driving force behind our being true to the meaning of “Kanaka Maoli” Native born Hawaiians. Many in the group are from Hawaii or have an affinity for all that is Hawaiian. Below is his signature line from his emails to us. His heart never left his homeland.
