Obituary
Jacquelynne (Toler) Hendrix was born to George Phelps and Esther Marjorie (Hinton) Toler in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 31st, 1935. The second of five children, she moved with her family to Jerome, Idaho, as a young girl where her love for the outdoors and animals flourished. She graduated from Jerome High School in 1953 and attended the College of Idaho, where she met her future husband, Thomas Dean Miller.
Jackie and Tom had seven children whom they eventually moved to a farm northwest of Gooding, Idaho. There, Jackie indulged her love for horses when not working as a clerk for the Soil Conservation Service. At later points in her life, she worked as a secretary at the Tupperware manufacturing facility in Jerome and Avonmore Dairy (later Glanbia) in Gooding and in Twin Falls.
On October 2, 1978, Jackie married Raymond Eugene Hendrix. They spent many happy years on a small ranch nestled against the Little Wood River North of Gooding. There they raised horses, including Jackie’s beloved Peruvian Paso. They later moved to Twin Falls, where they resided together until Ray’s death in 2022. Jackie moved to Bellingham, Washington, in Spring of 2023.
Jackie loved the wide, open spaces and always held a sense of wonder for nature: the beauty of an approaching or receding storm, the wind rustling through the trees, the horses frolicking in the field. She had a contagious smile and could find humor in just about anything. Many conversations with her included uncontrollable laughter. Jackie had a love for music and a lovely singing voice. She had an incredible memory for lyrics and tunes that she had picked up throughout life. Her family and friends were very often serenaded with a bit of a song whenever a conversation would bring one of those to her mind. Her faith was a guiding principle and pillar throughout her life.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, mother, husbands Tom and Ray, her sister Gail (Klinchuch) and her grandson Steven Cohenour. She is survived by her sisters Shirley (Bergam) and Gretchen (Pennington) and her brother Gordon. She is also survived by her children, Andrew, David, Timothy, Mark, Rebecca (Cohenour), Matthew, and Kathryn (Webster); her two step-children, Michael Hendrix and Rebecca (Beukelman); twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to inter her ashes alongside her husband Ray will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding, Idaho, in July, 2024.
