Obituary

On Tuesday, May 28th, 2019, Jack Lee Crosslin, Jr., passed away at the age of 73 after courageously battling cancer. His daughters were at his side.

Jack was born on July 28th, 1945 in Bellingham, WA to Jack Sr. and Evelyn (Knudson) Crosslin. He attended community college before becoming a well-known Brick Mason like his father. In 1981, he married Dianne Buatte. Jack cherished his four daughters: Catherine Crosslin and Kelly (Crosslin) Frere by his first wife Lori; and Kaycee Crosslin and Carly (Crosslin) Nicholes by his wife Dianne Crosslin.

Jack was charismatic, humorous and mischievous. He loved to laugh, and was quick to tease anyone, including himself. He possessed an impressive vocabulary and could fix almost anything. Jack took great pride in his work and was well-known throughout Whatcom County for his artistic, quality masonry.

Very rarely did you see Jack without a baseball hat, and his collection was expansive. He was athletic and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed baseball/softball, camping, fishing, bird-hunting, boating and waterskiing. Especially important to Jack were two very special family vacation properties: the Nooksack River and Shuswap Lake, B.C.. Jack’s happiest days were spent in the sun, near the water, surrounded by cherished family and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr. and mother, Evelyn; his wife, Dianne and their daughter, Kaycee. He is survived by his daughters Catherine; Kelly and husband Chris Frere and their children Bailee and Brooks; Carly and husband Marcus Nicholes and their daughter Leah; and an awesome dog, Jake.

A celebration for Jack will be held on Monday, June 10th, 2019 at the Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Point Park, 2600 N Harbor Loop Drive, Bellingham, WA at 5:00 pm.

Jacks girls, Sorry to hear Jack has passed away. I was fortunate to have known and worked with your dad for many years. He was truly one of the best bricklayer, block and stone masons of all those I worked with. He had the pride and passion as well as the talent of professional workmanship. He was fun to work with and we shared many a funny stories. He worked hard and maybe played harder. I do know he really loved all his girls. The outdoors, duck hunting, softball, and the river property, were some of the activities he enjoyed. He will be missed by all that knew him.

    Hi Girls and Family,

I was in shock to read about Jack’s passing. He and Dianne were a big part of my life for many many years! Your Dad was the best man at our wedding and Reid and I loved both Jack and Di so much! Such good memories at the river!! We even had our wedding reception out there. Your Dad spent a lot of time building a stage for the band and hosted many people there for our reception. Whenever I think of those days I get a huge smile on my face. I’m so glad you were able to spend time with your wonderful Dad! I will be there for your Dad’s “party” I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Big Hugs, Kendra Clark
