Obituary

Irene Rygg, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2016. She grew up in Jamestown, ND and went to Concordia College. Irene was proud to be one of the first women to serve in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during WWII. In 1950 she married Paul T. Rygg; They moved to Bellingham in 1962 where Irene became active with the Women of Western. Irene took great joy as an artist and as an active gardener. She is survived by her two children Peter and Jane (Bill), and two granddaughters Mia and Liana. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, February 16th at Greenacres Memorial Park, Ferndale. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellingham.
