Howard T. Olsen

Howard T. Olsen was born on June 26, 1962 to Herman Olsen of Lummi and Eva Olsen (Bob) of Swinomish. Howard peacefully passed away surrounded by his friends and family on July 3, 2013. Howard Thomas Olsen in life, was a good man who always seemed happy with a big smile on his face whether he was greeting you for the first time or the 100th time. To say the least, Howard never met another person he didn’t want to shake hands with. Howard was a kind and gentle soul who was slow to anger and always ready to forgive quickly and begin anew; no matter what the situation. He was fiercely independent and held true to the things he valued. Some of which were being outdoors, nature walks, long sleeve shirts, snack food wrappers, pepsi, coffee, hot dog, meals in general and shaking your hand whether he knew you or not. Howard never let his disabilities dampen his spirit or determinations to do the things he loved. He knew how to communicate and get his needs and wants met with a twinkle in his eye and a sincere happy smile on his face. Howard is no longer bound by the limitations of this world. His spirit can now soar wild and free and high. Go in peace my good friend, go in peace. Howard is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Ray Olsen, Harold Olsen, Herman Olsen Jr, and Michael Scates. Prayer services will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 6:00PM at Crab Bay Longhouse, followed by the Funeral Services on July 8, 2013 starting at 10:00AM. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and managers of Holly Community Services and the Racine House for caring for Howard and protecting him all these years.
