Obituary

Helen Lucille Schoen, 87, of Palm Desert, CA, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on February 17, 2022.

Helen was born to parents Peter Mardesich and Winifred Mardesich, in Everett, WA. She spent her childhood in Everett until losing her father to a fishing boat accident at the age of 12. She then relocated to the Bay Area helping her mother and grandparents in the family farming business. She graduated from Fremont High School (1951). She later became a wife, mother, and homemaker including raising her family in Marietta, GA from 1963 to 1970. She always enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor family activities. She then moved with her family to Apple Valley, CA. and in 1974 she returned to the Bay Area. Helen and her husband Ted also enjoyed living in Everson, WA and Sun City West, AZ before moving to Palm Desert, CA to be near her grandchildren.

Helen most loved caring for her family, being a homemaker, and cooking. She loved to travel and her favorite trip was a family reunion in Croatia. In her later years, Helen enjoyed reading, sunbathing, spending time with family and friends, and most of all, time with her sweet dog, Honeybun.

Our mother and grandmother will always be remembered for her social graces and her unending love, caring, and support.

Helen is survived by Dino Guzzetti (Rachel), son (Sammamish, WA), Dina Garcia (Jeremy), granddaughter (Ferndale, WA), her great-granddaughters Isabelle, Piper, Natalie, Penelope, and great-great-grandson Cole, her nieces, nephew, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by Ted Schoen, husband (2004), Peter Webster, son (2001), and Anton Mardesich, brother (2021).
