Obituary

Harriet Loretta Hillier passed away Sunday Sept. 16, 2012 at the age of 81. Harriet and her twin brother Harry were born on June 9, 1931 in San Jacinto CA to Lulu Alvina (Krueger) and Perry Leroy Waggoner.

Harriet met Stan Hillier in California where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton while serving in the Marine Corp. They married August 30, 1952 and moved to Bellingham. Stan Jr was born in 1954 followed closely by Lorrie in 1955 and twin daughters Diane and Debbie in 1957.

Mom enjoyed being home during her childrens early years and then was employed at IGM for 17 years in shipping and production. Following that she held various jobs until retirement. Throughout her life she expressed herself creatively through baking, gardening, poetry, designing jewelry and singing.

Harriet and Stan were members of Bellingham Covenant Church for over twenty years. They loved their church family, cherishing the friendships built during bible studies and Care luncheons.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband of 51 yrs, Stan, in 2003; infant daughter, Constance; her mother and father; brothers Chesleigh and Perry Waggoner and Sister Florene Drinkwine.

She is survived by son Stan Hillier, Jr and wife Kathy of Bellingham, daughters Lorrie Hillier of Bremerton, Diane Kanda and husband Michael of Bellingham, Debbie Beretta and husband Johnathan of Everett.
Grandsons, Jeff Peterson and wife Natsumi, Garrett McKay, Chad Horky, Sean Kanda and girlfriend Leann, Darren Kanda and wife Jessica, Jameson and Justin Beretta.
Great grandchildren, Kai Peterson, Marcus and Jesse McKay, Nyla Kanda.
Brother Harry Waggoner (Mary Lou), sisters, Lulu Davis and Bessie (Roy) Havens and numerous extended family members.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Mom felt much love and support from many, many people. Her faith kept her spirits high and she maintained her sense of humor despite her physical decline. When asked how she was doing, her reply was often, ornery as ever and too old to change! She truly fought until the end.

Our sincere appreciation to Dr. Nestor and his staff at the Cancer Care Center, Dr. Gargano; and the nursing (ICU and respiratory) staff at St. Joseph Hospital. Mom had a personal relationship with each of you and loved you all very much.

In addition we would like to thank the Bellingham Covenant family for their prayers, friendship and assistance they provided Mom.

We love you Mom, its not good-bye, but see you later.
