Obituary

Hank John Weyers, a beloved partner, brother, stepfather, step-grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2025, in Lynnwood, Washington at the age of 83.

Born in the Netherlands on May 7, 1942, Hank immigrated to the United States with his family in 1955, and grew up in Mount Vernon, Washington with his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He became an American citizen in 1961, served in the US Marine Corps for five years including in Vietnam, and then worked at Georgia Pacific where he met his first wife, Pansy Schaeffer. They lived in Bellingham and were married for over 40 years until her death in 2014.

Hank loved life and radiated happiness. Always smiling and with his easy laugh, Hank was known for his positivity, kindness and big heart. He was wonderfully generous with his time and was the first to show up when anyone needed help.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, working on handyman projects, watching game shows and college football, playing pinochle and the occasional slot machine, driving his beloved Ram Truck, and eating countless sweets, desserts and apple fritters (which he jokingly referred to as his “daily fruit serving”). In 2016, Hank found his soulmate and the love of his life in his partner, Betsy, and he absolutely treasured their nine-year romance and the life they built together. His passing leaves a deep hole in her heart, and he will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

Hank is survived by his partner, Betsy Mills; sisters Anny Stoeck and Truus Grandbois; brother Willy Weyers and his wife, Janice Weyers; stepdaughter Gayle Tuttle and her husband, Richard Tuttle; step-granddaughter Megan Tuttle and her husband, David Tuttle; step-grandson Jason Tuttle and his wife, LaJuan Tuttle; step great-grandchildren Gunnar Tuttle, Grace Tuttle and Luca Tuttle; numerous nieces and nephews; Betsy’s daughter, Cindy Epps, and her husband, Jason Epps; Betsy’s sons, Rick Mills and Ken Mills; and Betsy’s grandchildren, Justin Epps, Julia North and her husband, Anthony North. Hank was preceded in death by his mother, Gerarda Weyers, father Henk Weyers, first wife Pansy Weyers, sister Gerry Adderly and brothers Kees Weyers and Ron Weyers.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21 at the Mill Creek Country Club in Mill Creek, Washington.
