Ha Dong Quach

Obituary

Ha Quach was born 6/20/1930 in Hanoi, Vietnam. She passed away peacefully at home on 8/14/2018 at age of 88. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Her parents were originally from Foken, China. As a child she had to help support the family by making and selling street food. Because of this she never had the chance to go to school and never learned to read or write. Though she was uneducated she navigated the world in her own way.

Ha met the love of her life, Hoan Duong, and married when she was 23 years old. When they first met they did not speak the same language and had a friend translate for them. Ha learned to speak Cantonese from her husband and he learned to speak Vietnamese so that they were able to converse. At first Ha’s parents did not approve of the marriage because Hoan was Cantonese from Guangdong and she was Fukien. Regardless, Ha was determined to follow her heart. They formed a family consisting of 5 children.

Ha immigrated to America from Vietnam in 1988 with her husband and two sons to join her daughter, Carol. Ha was a fierce lady and knew what she wanted. Things had to be her way…unless it was her husband Hoan. She would only yield to him. He proceeded her into the afterlife in 2001.

Ha is survived by her four children Carol Yang, Le Duong, Quang Vinh Duong, and Hoan Vinh Duong. Her oldest daughter Binh Duong proceded her into the afterlife in 1989.
